ARTISTS: Dancers
Kati-Ann Ashworth
(Co-Founder, Choreographer) holds a BFA in
Dance Studies from Long Island University, C.W. Post and was
named Outstanding Senior in Dance in 2005. A certified member
of The Dance Teachers' Club of Boston, she currently choreographs
for Platinum Performance Dance Academy's award winning competition
team...
She also works as an Office Assistant for The Hutton
House Lectures.
Jillian Denis (Co-Founder,
Company Manager, Choreographer) has her BFA in Dance
Studies from Long Island University, C.W. Post. With
the Post Concert Dance Company, Jillian has performed a Suite
from Psalm reconstructed by Merle Holloman and excerpts from
A Choreographic Offering reconstructed by Raphael Boumaila of
the Limon Institute and has performed the works of Kanji Segawa,
Yu Xin, Stacey Carlson, among others...
She joined the Isadora
Duncan Dance Company (formerly Lori Belilove & Company) at
the Isadora Duncan Dance Foundation, in NewYork City, as an apprentice
in the summer of 2006. Jillian had the honor of studying
and exploring the Duncan Technique with close instruction from
company Artistic Director Lori Belilove and Associate Artistic
Director Cherlyn Smith. With Lori Belilove & Company,
Jillian appeared in performances at Queensborough Community College,
and the Fridays at Noon series at the 92nd Street Y, New York
City. Jillian’s piece, The Magic Forest, was performed
by Immersion outdoors as a Tilles Center Performance PLUS! Event
and was also featured in Dance New Amsterdams’s Works in
Progress Performance Series. One of her more recent pieces to
heart, was featured in the Rhythms Showcase presented by eyeBLINK. Jillian
has had the opportunity to teach dance full time at Lindenhurst
High School in the fall of 2008 and currently teaches ballet,
pointe, tap, jazz, lyrical, and hip hop at Dance Workshop of
Deer Park.
Michelle Durante (Co-Founder, Executive
Director, Choreographer) has her BFA in Dance Studies and a
concentration in Arts Management from Long Island University,
C.W. Post. Michelle has performed with Circle of Dance Repertory
Company and has rehearsed and choreographed for a NYC dance
project done by Kelley Donovan and Dancer’s...
She performed in Ancient Springs with Tina
Croll + Dancers throughout venues in NYC as well as Little
Impromptu and Other Dances as part of The Performance Project at University
Settlement with Tina Croll and Bryan Hayes in a piece called
The Stamping Ground. Michelle also took part in Face the Music
and…Dance, in The New York International Fringe Festival
with Tina Croll + Dancers. She has worked with Deborah Mauldin,
the President of the American Dance Guild, to perform her piece,
The Pillars of Creation, in a showcase at The Mary Anthony Dance
Theatre and Dance New Amsterdam. She worked with David Appel
to perform his piece Bed of Roses at Movement Research at the
Judson Church. Michelle has performed and showcased her choreography
as part of Immersion Dance Company’s repertory throughout
venues in the tri-state area and internationally. The American
Dance Guild in collaboration with Art Of Motion in New Jersey
showcased BitterSweet in a performance called “PROCESS” Emerging
and Developed Work from Artists Near and Far. lifeline, choreographed
in 2005, made its international debut at the Fringe Festival
in Edinburgh, Scotland in August 2006. lifeline along with Changeover,
choreographed in 2007, were chosen and performed in the 22nd
World Dance Conference in Athens, Greece and The
41st International Choreographers Showcase in Bari, Italy in July 2008. Michelle
is the Executive Director and co-founder of Immersion Dance Company
and is an Account Executive for DCM representing arts organizations
reach goals for fundraising and development. Michelle teaches
and choreographs for the competing company at A Place to Dance
in Queens and has been honored as a featured member of Cambridge’s
Who’s Who for executive and professional women.
Michelle Gilligan (Co-Founder, Artistic
Director, Choreographer) received her BFA in Dance Studies
with a concentration in Arts Management from Long Island University,
C.W. Post. Within the four years of her involvement with Post's resident dance
company, The Post Concert Dance Company, Michelle gained experience
in the Limon Technique performing Suite
from Psalm and Choreographic
Offering...
She was also fortunate enough to work with Kanji Segawa,
a member of Battleworks and the Mark Morris Dance Group, to perform
his piece, Dark Nights, at Joyce SoHo. Most recently, Michelle
has performed with Tina Croll + Company in her program, Face
the Music and…Dance, in The New York International Fringe
Festival. She has worked with Deborah Mauldin, the President
of the American Dance Guild, to perform her piece, The
Pillars of Creation, in a showcase at The Mary Anthony Dance Theatre
and Dance New Amsterdam. She has worked with David Appel on his
experimental piece, Bed of Roses, which was performed in Movement
Research at Judson Church. She has also performed as a background
dancer at Nassau Coliseum for Mase's Welcome
Back Tour and was
a dancer in the hip-hop company, Rhythmic Storm, performing in
New York City and Maryland. Michelle is currently the Artistic
Director and co-founder of Immersion Dance Company and is
honored to be working with such innovative minds. She is also
the Production Coordinator at the Tilles Center for the
Performing Arts and teaches modern, hip-hop, and jazz at Center
Stage Dance Studio in Farmingdale.
Carla Reitano (Co-Founder, Director of Education, Choreographer)
graduated with a BFA in Dance Studies from Long Island University,
C.W. Post. Throughout her time there as a member of The Post
Concert Dance Company she had the opportunity to study intensely
with Merle Holloman and Raphael Boumaila of the Limon Institute...
Under their direction she performed A
Suite from Psalm, was a
featured soloist in Choreographic Offering and The
Winged. She
also worked with Kanji Segawa of Battleworks, to perform Dark
Nights at Joyce SoHo. Since she has graduated she has worked
with Tina Croll + Dancers, performing Ancient Springs in many
venues throughout New York City and most recently in The Stamping
Ground at University Settlement. She has also worked with Deborah
Mauldin, President of the American Dance Guild, to perform her
piece The Pillars of Creation at Dance New Amsterdam. Carla has
recently worked with David Appel and performed his piece, Bed
of Roses, in Movement Research at Judson Church. Carla is currently
the Director of Education and co-founder, dancer and choreographer
of Immersion Dance Company. She also holds a full time job at
Merrill Lynch Professional Clearing Corporation as a Client Service
Rep for the professional traders on the New York Stock Exchange.
Fumi
Osogami is a dance major at Long Island
University, C.W. Post. She has trained in ballet for 7
years in Japan and is currently studying ballet, modern,
jazz, tap and African dance. As a member of C.W. Post’s
resident dance company, Post Concert Dance Company, she
has worked with Andy LeBeau from Paul Taylor Dance Company
to perform Aureole, in 2007, and Adam Battelstein and Renee
Jaworski from Pilobolus Dance Theater to perform Ciona
in 2008...
She has also worked with Kanji Segawa,
a member of Battleworks and the Mark Morris Dance Group,
to perform his piece, Short Stories (excerpts), as well
as Khaleah London to perform her piece, Shedding, at Symphony
Space, in the 2009 Choreographer’s Showcase. She
joined Immersion Dance Company in 2009.
